Before you use your new NP-77 SONY battery for the first time you must charge them fully. Please note that for new rechargeable SONY camcorder batteries, it is often necessary to cycle them at least three to five times or more before they reach peak performance and capacity. The first several times that you use your batteries NP-77 SONY , you may find that they run down (discharge) quickly during use. Not to worry, this is normal until the batteries actually form up. No memory effect. Chargeable even if it has not been used up yet.
- It is important to condition (fully discharge and then fully charge) the NP-77 battery every two to three weeks. Failure to do so may significantly shorten the camcorder battery's life (this does not apply to Li-Ion batteries, which do not require conditioning). To discharge, simply run the device under the camcorder battery's power until it shuts down or until you get a low battery warning. Then recharge the battery as instructed in the user's manual.
- If the NP-77 SONY battery will not be in use for a month or longer, it is recommended that it be removed from the device and stored in a cool, dry, clean place.
- It is normal for the replacement for NP-77 battery to become warm to the touch during charging and discharging.
